Week Sixteen – The End Begins

We have reached the final week of the regular season in both the Family and First divisions. And the playoffs, and playdowns, are already underway in the Dynasty division. Some of our seasons have already ended and many more will each week as we move forward. Good luck to everyone in surviving and advancing. Fun, fun, fun!

FAMILY DIVISION

The question is, did he or didn’t he? Well,

He did! The Lynchburg Lemonades (Ryan) won another and have moved to an incredible 15-0. One more week to complete an undefeated season. Amazing!

The Lemonades will be joined by the Hawaii Volcanos (Paul) and the Seymour Hoosiers (Myiah) in the playoffs starting next week. And then there is that 4th and final spot.

The Romney Raiders (Joey) sit a game back of the Farmville Furies (Maddie). Unfortunately for the Raiders they lost both of their games to the Furies this season. Therefore, they cannot win the tiebreak even if they catch up. So, the Furies will be the final team in the playoffs. Now, that would seem to make this week’s games irrelevant. However, there is still one very interesting game.

Before the season I would have said it was not possible, but with a win, the Lemonades will finish the regular season undefeated. Fascinating!

FIRST DIVISION

Wow! Just look at the exciting playoff chase in this division. And last week’s games just made it more exciting.

The Olney Ospreys (Kirsi) had an exciting victory over the Kobe Beef (Kobe) to keep the standings tight.

The Pennsylvania Poultry Platoon (Erika) lost to the number one seeded Virginia Pioneers (Dave) in a game that could have secured their playoff spot. Now, they are still on the bubble.

The Baltimore Bulldogs (Katie) won in a shootout against the Allegheny Alligators (Cody) to keep the Bulldog’s playoff hopes alive, and eliminate the Alligators. The playoff bubble is exciting with four teams battling for two spots on this final week.

The tiebreak possibilities are endless so we will have to wait and see how it plays out. Here are the matchups this week.

Fun, fun, fun! Can’t wait to see the results.

DYNASTY DIVISION

Things have already heated up in Dynasty with the playoffs and playdowns underway. This week’s semi-final matchups will determine who participates in the Super Bowl and Toilet Bowl next week. Let’s take a look.

The Dakota Dragons (Butch) go up against the number one-seeded Phoenix Heat (Steven). The Heat have won two of the last five titles and are looking to return to the Super Bowl and take a shot at winning three out of six. The Dragons come in looking to add to their own impressive championship cabinet. They have four Dynasty titles and one First division title last season. Can they become the second team to reach the Super Bowl after promotion? We will see.

The Myrtle Beach Wave (Rob D) are looking to make a second straight trip to the Super Bowl after losing to the Louisiana Lightning (Denny) last year. This will be their attempt to make good after coming just short last year. The DC Braves seem to have been on the cusp of winning a title for years now and always fall just short. Will this be the year that they break through and finally get their chip. Again, we will see.

And speaking of the Lightning, what a difference a year makes. The defending champs are now in the semi-finals of the playdowns and one loss from the Toilet Bowl. And who do they get? Only the six-time champion Minnesota Blizzard (Geri). Whoever loses this game will be a shocking participant in the Toilet Bowl.

The other playdown matchup pits the West Virginia Blacklungs (Rob S) and the Montana Mountaineers (Chuck). It seems like the Mountaineers have been in this position for the last few seasons but always survive. It is hard to understand why looking at their roster, but none the less, here they are again. The Blacklungs were the other promotion team from last season and have done well finishing at 6-7-1. But, this is what makes this league so tough. You do well and are still on the cusp of relegation. Dang!

Good luck everyone and see you next week!
